If you’re looking for guidance on ADHD nutrition in Durham, you’re in the right place. At Eat for Life, I offer personalized, science-based nutrition support for children, teens, and adults living with ADHD. Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed or are exploring natural ways to support focus, mood, and daily functioning, I help you cut through the noise and find what works without judgment and without guesswork.
I proudly serve families and individuals throughout Durham and the surrounding areas with holistic, practical nutrition strategies tailored to the challenges of ADHD.
ADHD affects more than attention. It can influence energy levels, sleep, appetite, digestion, and even emotional regulation. And while medication plays a role for many people, nutrition can be a powerful and often overlooked support tool. Balanced meals, consistent eating patterns, and targeted nutrients can all play a role in improving focus, reducing hyperactivity, and stabilizing mood.
At Eat for Life, I understand that every brain is different. That’s why I take a personalized, functional nutrition approach, looking at the root causes of symptoms, from blood sugar swings to food sensitivities and nutrient imbalances.
One of the most common concerns I hear from families and individuals with ADHD is about how certain foods, especially sugar, impact focus, energy, and behavior. While sugar is often singled out as a trigger for hyperactivity or mood swings, the relationship is more complex than simply cutting out sweets. It’s not just about the sugar itself but how it fits into the bigger picture of blood sugar regulation, nutrient balance, and overall eating patterns.
When meals are high in refined sugars or simple carbohydrates, they can cause sharp spikes and crashes in blood sugar levels. These fluctuations may exacerbate symptoms such as restlessness, irritability, or difficulty concentrating, especially in children. That’s why I help clients build meals and snacks that include a balance of protein, healthy fats, and fiber-rich carbohydrates to maintain steady energy levels throughout the day.
Rather than banning sugar or labeling certain foods as “bad,” my approach focuses on understanding how the body responds and making realistic, supportive changes. For some individuals, reducing added sugar may lead to clearer thinking and increased emotional stability. For others, it may be about choosing the right type of carbs or adjusting the timing of meals and snacks to support attention and mood better.
We’ll look at the whole picture together: from how often you eat to how sugar fits into your current routine to how to manage tricky situations like school lunches, birthday parties, or afternoon cravings. The goal is not perfection; it’s progress, confidence, and feeling more in control of your day.
Whether you’re a parent trying to help your child thrive at school or an adult managing a demanding schedule with ADHD, my support is flexible, compassionate, and grounded in evidence. I combine functional nutrition insights with practical coaching to help you make fundamental, lasting changes.

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions that may help if you need assistance or have any inquiries.
Payment is due before your first consultation. I accept check, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover. Labs are invoiced after your initial consultation and nutrient orders after your protocol is completed.
I work in three and six-month increments. Nutrient therapy uses therapeutic dosages to penetrate the nucleus of the cell so real change and deeper healing can occur. Please know true healing takes time and that diet and lifestyle changes are important components to individualized nutrients because they work in synergy with one another.
Like many functional medicine clinics, my services are an out-of-pocket expense, which allows me to provide you with the best nutrition and lifestyle care available and does not limit your care to what is covered by health insurance policies.
I am set up to accept HSA/FSA cards but since every insurance company has its own policies, I cannot guarantee their coverage.
Additionally, you may be able to work with your insurance company for a percentage coverage by submitting your service receipt.
Please note, I am unable to provide superbills.
6-month program clients receive $50 off their first lab order. Our initial consultation will help me determine labs that are of immediate need, and those we can hold off on until a later date.
After your initial consultation, you will be invoiced for your lab order. Then we will send your requisition forms for your blood draw. Urine, hair elements, stool, and other kits are mailed via USPS, UPS or FedEx. Full instructions are included.
A special note for clients in New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island: our lab cannot physically ship test kits or process lab orders in these states due to legislative laws. However, test kits may be sent to a surrounding state address. Kits must also be sent back from the surrounding state. Blood draws must also be performed in a surrounding state.
Our lab is able to process specimens in most countries. Please fill out our consultation form to see how we can best support you.
6-month program clients receive 20% off their first supplement order.
After your initial healing plan has been created (only if you live in the US), we will create an online dispensary account for you to order your nutrients. I only work with nutraceuticals that are of the highest efficacy and purity standards and I do not recommend buying supplements from Amazon. Click here to read more about the dangers of buying supplements from Amazon.
I run a virtual clinic located in North Carolina, United States, Eastern Time. I have clients in many countries, all over the world. We will connect via private and secure video or phone.
Reasonable email support is included with all programs and response times are within 48 business hours (weekdays). Most of the time I respond the same day. Large volume emails are best discussed during session time.
Single sessions that are not part of a program do not include email support or protocol revisions.
I really value our time together. If you are running late, please let us know and I will do my best to hold your session. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so 48 business hours in advance. For missed appointments, your session will be deducted from your program.
We are open from 9am to 5pm, Eastern Time, USA, Monday through Friday.
Because digital products cannot be returned, digital eBooks are non-refundable. With the purchase of my digital cookbooks, you agree to these terms.
Please note they are not available in hard copy at this time.
