Living in North Carolina, I’ve worked with many families—from the busy streets of Charlotte to quiet neighborhoods near the Blue Ridge Parkway. One of the most common concerns parents bring to me is how to manage ADHD symptoms through food. Whether your child struggles to focus in class or you’re an adult feeling overwhelmed by daily routines, ADHD nutrition can make a real difference.

I help children, teens, and adults build eating habits that support attention, mood, and daily balance at Eat for Life. I started this practice because families were looking for practical answers—something beyond food fads or long lists of rules. They wanted clear guidance that worked in real life.

ADHD affects focus, self-regulation, and emotional control. While medication helps many people, food choices also play a key role in brain function. Understanding how specific nutrients and eating patterns can help reduce mood swings, improve concentration, and support better daily energy can empower you to make informed food choices, taking control of your health and well-being.

There is research behind this. A 2011 study in The Lancet found that a restricted elimination diet improved symptoms in 64% of children with ADHD. While not everyone needs to follow an elimination plan, it shows how powerful food can be.

When I work with clients who want support for ADHD nutrition in North Carolina, we focus on a few key areas:

  • Meals that keep blood sugar stable
  • Protein and healthy fat intake to support brain function
  • Iron and zinc levels, which affect focus and energy
  • Omega-3 fatty acids for brain development
  • Avoiding food additives or ingredients that may trigger symptoms

Here are a few specific nutrition tips I often share with clients:

  • Start the day with protein. Eggs, yogurt, or nut butter can help with attention and reduce mid-morning crashes.
  • Include healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, or chia seeds to support brain health.
  • Limit artificial dyes and preservatives. Some children are sensitive to these ingredients.
  • Keep meals and snacks consistent. A regular eating schedule helps manage energy and mood.

Even small changes in meals can lead to real progress. Most families I work with have already tried a lot. They just need someone to help them connect the dots and make an easy-to-follow plan.

A couple cooks a meal together, they are both smiling and happy. Eat for Life provides support for ADHD Nutrition.

  • I work with both children and adults. Many of my clients live with ADHD or care for someone who does.
  • I offer flexible appointments, including phone and video sessions, to make things easier for busy families.

You won’t get a strict diet or one-size-fits-all plan. You’ll get support that helps you or your child feel more steady, focused, and in control—without the stress.

You’ll leave each session with clarity, not just about what to eat but why it matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions that may help if you need assistance or have any inquiries.

What is your payment policy?

Payment is due before your first consultation. I accept check, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover. Labs are invoiced after your initial consultation and nutrient orders after your protocol is completed.

I work in three and six-month increments. Nutrient therapy uses therapeutic dosages to penetrate the nucleus of the cell so real change and deeper healing can occur. Please know true healing takes time and that diet and lifestyle changes are important components to individualized nutrients because they work in synergy with one another.

Like many functional medicine clinics, my services are an out-of-pocket expense, which allows me to provide you with the best nutrition and lifestyle care available and does not limit your care to what is covered by health insurance policies.

I am set up to accept HSA/FSA cards but since every insurance company has its own policies, I cannot guarantee their coverage.

Additionally, you may be able to work with your insurance company for a percentage coverage by submitting your service receipt.

Please note, I am unable to provide superbills.

6-month program clients receive $50 off their first lab order. Our initial consultation will help me determine labs that are of immediate need, and those we can hold off on until a later date.

After your initial consultation, you will be invoiced for your lab order. Then we will send your requisition forms for your blood draw. Urine, hair elements, stool, and other kits are mailed via USPS, UPS or FedEx. Full instructions are included.

A special note for clients in New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island: our lab cannot physically ship test kits or process lab orders in these states due to legislative laws. However, test kits may be sent to a surrounding state address. Kits must also be sent back from the surrounding state. Blood draws must also be performed in a surrounding state.

Our lab is able to process specimens in most countries. Please fill out our consultation form to see how we can best support you.

6-month program clients receive 20% off their first supplement order.

After your initial healing plan has been created (only if you live in the US), we will create an online dispensary account for you to order your nutrients. I only work with nutraceuticals that are of the highest efficacy and purity standards and I do not recommend buying supplements from Amazon. Click here to read more about the dangers of buying supplements from Amazon.

I run a virtual clinic located in North Carolina, United States, Eastern Time. I have clients in many countries, all over the world. We will connect via private and secure video or phone.

Reasonable email support is included with all programs and response times are within 48 business hours (weekdays). Most of the time I respond the same day. Large volume emails are best discussed during session time.

Single sessions that are not part of a program do not include email support or protocol revisions.

I really value our time together. If you are running late, please let us know and I will do my best to hold your session. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so 48 business hours in advance. For missed appointments, your session will be deducted from your program.

We are open from 9am to 5pm, Eastern Time, USA, Monday through Friday.

Because digital products cannot be returned, digital eBooks are non-refundable. With the purchase of my digital cookbooks, you agree to these terms.

Please note they are not available in hard copy at this time.
