America has a food problem. The food supply is tainted, and it’s making us sick and creating major health problems for our children. But even more heartbreaking is that we are losing our freedom due to this madness. I really hope today’s two-part episode opens your eyes to the truth of what’s happening. Regulatory agencies are supposed to advocate for our safety. Sadly, the opposite is true. If we look around, we see a global push towards more and more lab-manufactured Franken foods, including insects that harbor harmful parasites and allergy-inducing compounds, while demonizing our farmers and ranchers. The convenience of fast food is not worth the price you pay to be miserable.
Today I’m talking with friend and Author, Dr. Sina McCullough, about the many ways our food supply is corrupted, and how we are being exposed to a wide variety of toxins without our knowledge and consent. We also talk about manipulative food labeling, the gluten-free corn illusion, the truth about organic requirements and so much more. Dr. McCullough is the creator of the online program Go Wild: How I Reversed Chronic and Autoimmune Disease, which teaches people how to reverse chronic and autoimmune diseases in a step-by-step manner. She is also an expert in nutrition, disease reversal, functional medicine, exercise physiology, and energy medicine, as well as a certified natural healer, master herbalist and gluten-free society practitioner.
Sina is the author of two books: Hands Off My Food and Beyond Labels, which was co-authored with Joe Salatin from Polyface farm. Dr. McCullough is the co-host and co- producer of the Beyond Labels podcast alongside Joel Salatin. She also hosts a cooking show titled Easy Peasy Cooking with Dr. Sina and writes for The Epoch Times. She earned a PhD in nutrition and a BS in neurobiology, physiology and behavior with a minor in exercise physiology from the University of California at Davis. She also taught biochemistry and bioenergetics at UC Davis. Prior to becoming a homeschool mom, she was the director of research and development for a nutraceutical company. Dr. McCullough nearly died from an autoimmune disease.
However, through the grace of God, she was able to fully heal without the use of medication. Now she is dedicated to helping others find their second chance. Thanks for being with us today. Here’s my conversation with Sina.

At Death’s Door to Exposing Corruption in our Food System
Welcome to the show, Sina. I am so glad you’re here. And I am so excited for this important conversation.
Oh, thank you for having me. I am equally as excited to be here with you.
I know this is going to be an amazing conversation for sure. Today, we’re talking about your very well-researched book, Hands Off My Food: How Government and Industry Have Corrupted Our Food and Easy Ways to Fight Back. But before we get started, you have a truly amazing healing story. I’d love for you to share that with us. Would you describe for us what that was like and how your experience led you to where you are today?
While I was in my 30s, I developed a debilitating autoimmune disease. I actually almost died from that disease. And what happened was in 2015, is when I finally got the diagnosis, and it was an advanced stage of rheumatoid arthritis, so I was in my 30s and I couldn’t even wrap my hand around a cup because I was in so much pain. The disease was accompanied by muscle wasting, like a cancer patient can experience as well as arsenic poisoning, which I got from consuming the supposedly gluten free foods that are filled with rice. I also had leaky gut, and I had deficiencies in 15 different nutrients. In fact, I was taking a vitamin and mineral supplement every single day, but the nutrient deficiencies were so severe that I ended up being borderline for both pellagra and beriberi. And both of those diseases actually can lead to death. And the crazy part is that they were both eradicated in the US by the mid 1900s.
Now, obviously, the condition was very bad. I almost died from this, but it didn’t actually happen overnight. Like all autoimmune conditions, it slowly brood over my entire lifetime. It began in the womb, but my obvious symptoms began in my early 20s, and started with gastrointestinal issues. So for example, within 20 minutes of eating, I would look as if I was five months pregnant, because I got so bloated and my abdomen was so distended. It would be accompanied by things like gas and chronic constipation, followed by diarrhea, and it was really hard to pinpoint the foods that were causing this issue. One day, I could eat a pizza, from my favorite restaurant, and I was fine. I can eat that same pizza from the same restaurant a week later, and I’d be buckled over in pain.
I actually sought help from Western medical doctors from the very beginning. In my early 20s, I was in their doctors offices, and they diagnosed me with irritable bowel syndrome, which, as you know, is a catch all label for we don’t know what’s wrong with you and they prescribed Tagamet. Now, I was in my early 20s and I had decided I was not willing to become dependent on prescription drugs just so I could eat. I knew even at that age that the drug was just going to mask the symptoms, it wouldn’t address the root cause. So I kept searching for answers, but I kept searching within Western medicine. So I got a second opinion and a third and a fourth, I saw so many doctors and had so many tests that I lost count after a while. I had at least three colonoscopies, a sigmoidoscopy, breath tests, urine tests, fecal tests, blood tests, and at one point I even had exploratory surgery. Nothing showed up and none of the doctors had any answers. Meanwhile, I was getting sicker and sicker. It started with gastrointestinal issues. And then it progressed, I ended up having nausea, brain fog, chronic fatigue, chronic sinus infections, which meant I was on antibiotics on and off chronically. I was susceptible to all kinds of colds and flus, and I had delayed recovery from all of the colds and flus. I had kidney stones, I had a tumor that developed on the white or the sclera of my eye. I saw several specialists for that. And none of them knew why the tumor was there. But they could tell me with absolute certainty that the tumor was going to grow over my cornea. And that I would not be able to see anymore. So that was not helpful.
As it progressed, I also had a lot of hair loss and tons of food sensitivities. The hardest one for me was I ended up having five miscarriages; it was devastating. All of this happened over about a 20-year time span. I sought help from Western doctors the whole time. I knew it was related to diet, at least partly because I would get so distended after eating. But the doctor didn’t believe me; they basically said that food didn’t have that power. The last specialist I saw told me that the symptoms had to be in my head because his lab tests showed nothing. That’s when I realized that if I had any chance of healing, I was going to have to basically choose a different path.
Becoming detectives and discovering man-made chemicals were to blame
My husband became my co-detective and we scoured the scientific literature. This was seven or so years ago and back then leaky gut wasn’t in the mainstream vocabulary yet. We found it in the scientific literature, and we theorize that I was being triggered by things like gluten, or manmade chemicals like GMOs, pesticides and herbicides and the like. I went on an all organic and what I thought was a gluten free diet. I actually got better and then I got worse, and this was my pattern. I would try something and I would get better and worse. So I tried GAPS diet, the Paleo diet, the Candida diet, I did diet elimination reintroduction, and when I was at this point, I already had my PhD in nutrition. So I was trained on how to do that technique of elimination reintroduction.
I figured out a long list of foods I couldn’t eat, but I missed a few foods. At this point in my healing journey, I was cooking everything from scratch, everything was organic, and I never ate out. But I got sicker, and this is when I hit my low. I developed low grade muscle pain throughout my entire body. When my whole family got the flu, they all recovered in a couple of days, but I ended up going to the emergency room. That’s when I hit my rock bottom. I would spend my days lying on the floor in pain, I was too weak to walk up the stairs, my husband would actually have to carry me up and down the stairs, I couldn’t stand long enough to like make a sandwich for the kids for lunch. This is when I got to the point where I couldn’t wrap my hand around a cup, it was so hard to breathe. And to inhale every breath felt like my ribs were going to break. When I chewed food, it felt like my teeth were actually going to fall out and this is when I began the process of muscle wasting. In one month, I lost over 15 pounds. I was eating constantly, I was shoveling in avocado with real salt on it and I couldn’t stop the weight loss.
That was the first time in this 20 plus years of searching for answers that I was really scared. That’s when my husband and I knew that if we couldn’t do something to dramatically stop this progression, I wasn’t going to be alive to see my kids grow up. So that’s when I actually surrendered to God. Even now I have goosebumps, the image popped in my head. I remember it very vividly, I was laying in my bed, too weak to move the sheet off my body to be able to get up and get down the stairs to watch the kids for my husband to go to work, just lying there. I started bawling and I knew I was going to die. All I could hear downstairs was my two boys at the time, ages two and five and remember hearing them laughing and I thought, “Oh my gosh, I’m not gonna be here to hear that beautiful sound anymore.” It still gets me every time.
As I lay there, I cried to God and said to him, “I have used all the skills you’ve given me. I’ve used the education that you helped me get. I’ve used the contacts that I know. I’ve used every resource I can think of.” At this point, I was listening to at least 40 to 60 hours a week, every week, of online free health summits. I was trying to find the answer and couldn’t piece the whole thing together. And so I said to him, “Look, I’ve tried everything, and I can’t do it alone. I need you to help me.” I promised him that if he saved me so my kids could have a mother, I would spend the rest of my life helping his other children find their second chance.
The very next day when my husband brought me downstairs to watch the kids while he went to work. This became our routine, he would put food all around the coffee table and water so that the kids had something to eat, he would turn on the laptop for me and turn on one of the health summits for me to listen to. I don’t know if you’ve ever listened to a health summit. There’s six to eight speakers every day and an hour each. You can’t possibly listen to all of them unless you have no job. I said to my husband, for whatever reason, I’m supposed to listen to that one and he pushed play, and I kid you not within like five or 10 seconds of hearing this doctor’s voice, I knew that I was supposed to contact him. It was like the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “That’s the one, he’s got the missing piece of the puzzle.”
I called his office and knew it was a long shot. He had just released a book and was on a book tour. He was an international best seller. He had a clinic in Texas, and I was in Virginia; telemedicine wasn’t as big back then as it is now. I didn’t even know if he’d see me. I called the office, and they said yes, he does telemedicine. He’s so busy because he’s so in demand. It will be a six-month waitlist. I told her “I won’t be here in six months.” She said I understand we get a lot of patients like that, which was heartbreaking, and she said I will put you on a waitlist. I got my paperwork in that day. The very next day I get a phone call from the office. They said he has a cancellation. It just came in. It’s for tomorrow if you want it. And I was like, “Oh my gosh, this is amazing.”
I have an appointment with him. He starts talking to me, and I’m laughing. I’m laughing, and you can imagine I’m so weak, I can’t hold the phone up to my hand. It’s on speakerphone; I’m lying there and laughing. He says, “I don’t think you understand the seriousness of your condition.” “Oh, no. I said, “I understand that I’m about to die. But God’s got this, and it’s going to be okay because God’s got this now.” And he said to me, that is why you’re going to heal because of that mentality that I had.
As it turns out, I didn’t know about two critical tests. “Do you remember I told you I was so close to figuring out all the puzzle pieces?” There were two tests that I didn’t know about, and these were functional tests. The first test was a food sensitivity test, like one that actually works. There are lots of them on the market, and most of them don’t work, just adding to our confusion. He directed me toward one that actually works, and then the second test was an accurate heavy metal test. This test used a chelator, and that’s how we finally figured out that I had arsenic poisoning.
The functional food sensitivity test showed that I was sensitive to chicken, which we think of as a healthy food, but I’m sensitive to chicken, and bay leaf. Why? Because I was eating what they tell you to eat to heal your gut. I was consuming large quantities of bone broth, with a bay leaf in in it, and what’s it made from? A chicken carcass. I developed sensitivities to it. Now, this was the really cool part. Oh, and you know, all the other foods I had already figured out through diet elimination reintroduction, it was just those two. And the reason is because I didn’t have any gastrointestinal symptoms when I ate them. All the other foods that I ate, I had some kind of GI response, which, as I see it now, was a blessing because my body would instantly say to me something that a meal was not right. And then you can reduce it down and figure it out. Whereas when I ate the chicken with the bay leaf, I had no GI symptoms. I didn’t know because I had no baseline. Most of us start an diet elimination reintroduction protocols when we’re already sick and, you don’t have a healthy baseline to compare it to. That was my problem, I was in chronic pain and I couldn’t tell the difference if the chicken inflamed me or not.
Here’s the really cool part. I took the chicken and the bayleaf out of my diet immediately. That was the only change I had made at that point, because I was already grain free, dairy free, egg free, soy free, nut free, legume free, you name it. I took the chicken and bay leaf out and within three days I got off the floor. It makes total sense because how long does the gut need to actually heal? What’s the cell turnover rate of the gastrointestinal lining? Three days, I’m off the floor. Within three months, I was outside starting to do yard work again and within about a year, there were no signs, no markers of any kind of disease in my body. It was remarkable. At that point, I was in remission. Now I’m fully healed and it’s been almost seven years now. Still fully healed, no disease markers, or anything like that. I have more energy than I’ve ever had in my entire life; more energy now than I did in my 20s. In fact, two years ago, I gave birth to a healthy nine pound baby girl and I was 45 years old.
Oh my gosh, that’s so extraordinary. Wow.
It’s amazing, right? It’s amazing how the body can heal and how God can guide you to that healing. When you surrender to it, he showed me an entirely different path that didn’t just lead to remission, and it led to complete healing and to the best health that I’ve had in my entire life.
Wow. Oh, my gosh, such an extraordinary story. I appreciate the detail Sina because I tell people all the time that there are so many tests out there that have no relevance. There are some really good tests out there. Yes, of course. I think that testing as well as a full medical and family history, really getting to know your patient is critical for healing, of course, and working with someone that can guide you appropriately, and knows how to weed through all the tests that are, how should I say this? Just moneymakers. I’m just going to be honest, there’s just a lot of tests out there that are promoted and marketed directly to consumers and they are very, very misleading. I’m so with you, I think prayer is so powerful. Prayer has gotten me through some really dark times in my life and I know that when I reach out in prayer, the answer will come. It’s hard to think that way when you are in pain and literally dying. It’s hard to have faith and just the fact that you’re reaching out and asking for that guidance, even if you don’t quite believe it yet. That’s okay. I know and you know, that God does deliver. I think that’s an important aspect of your healing journey that is critical for people to hear, especially at this point in history with all that we’ve been through over the last two and a half years, and the direction that the powers that be want to take us in. God bless you for listening and doing what you do, because you are helping so many other people to heal. It’s just extraordinary.
I can not agree with you more. You are right about that sentiment. That is what healed me. God showed me that path, but here’s the thing. I didn’t just surrender to Him and do nothing. I was active in my healing journey, and He revealed the truth. I was open and willing to see it. I kept digging, and my husband kept digging; we kept doing the work we needed to do to get me to heal. It’s exactly what you’re saying. I opened my heart and gave my whole self to God; in exchange, he showed me the truth. He showed me the truth about the food supply, the truth about our modern medical system, and knowing the truth helped me reverse the disease.
My kids, my husband, my mother, they’ve all had health issues. Like most people today, 60% of us. Even according to the CDC, about 60% of all adults have at least one chronic disease, everybody’s sick. Because of my journey, what He showed me, and because my husband was such a pillar of strength, and support and trust that together we’ve been able to actually heal our whole family from all their different ailments. My husband, for instance, had chronic Lyme infection and developed lupus and is totally healed now. My oldest son, he had autism, he was on the autism spectrum. He also had some idiopathic joint disease, he was in so much pain, he couldn’t stand up in the bathtub for me to wash his hair, and he had chronic fatigue, all gone. You would never know talking to him or interacting with him that he was once on the autism continuum.
My youngest son, he fared better because he was two when I got really sick. We learned more, but he had chronic constipation, he would have blood sometimes in his stool, and he had bumps on the backs of his arms. He too was on the autoimmune continuum. That’s reversed. My mother, whole big story for her. In short, my mother has had kidney disease since she was in her 20s and in her 70s is when she was about to die. I got the call and the doctors are like this is it, you better fly out here to California because she’s not gonna make it through the night. She had had a kidney transplant years before and the kidney was failing. She had grand mal seizures, was type two diabetic for decades. She had multiple strokes, multiple heart attacks, skin cancer, high blood pressure, and high triglycerides. She had Hashimotos. I fly there to California and the short end of the story is I brought her back home with me. She lived with me for about eight months and every single disease she had reversed in the eight months.
Her doctors went from, let’s read, her last rights to a fully functioning adult. The kidney that was transplanted kidney had failed, and by the time we got done with the whole protocol, her kidney bounced back, not just to the lab levels of a transplanted kidney, but it was reading at healthy lab values for a biological kidney.
That’s really the power of food. That’s the power of the truth that many of us aren’t aware of. It’s the power of healing on an emotional level. It’s simply the power and the amazing ability of the body to heal. God has given all of us that ability; it’s inside of you already. We just need to learn how to harness that power.
Yes, I believe that wholeheartedly. We’ve been misled for so long. You were told this as well, Sina. “Oh, food has nothing to do with that, just taking medication, or let’s do surgery.” I want everyone listening to the show today to know that “yes, food has that power. Nutrients have that power. Prayer is powerful.” We talk a lot about epigenetics and DNA expression, and we know nutrients give our genes their marching orders, but it’s not just nutrients from food. It’s nutrients from loving relationships; it’s nutrients from vitamin J. You can call it Vitamin J, the vitamin of joy, and Vitamin P, the vitamin of peace, which is extraordinary.
I want to have you back on the show Sina to talk about how emotions are stored in our biofields as you’ve done some great work in that area as well. Obviously, that’s another show, but it’s all connected. When we crowd out all the poisonous Franken foods, when we crowd out the poison, what happens is the body has this amazing ability to heal. Again, I think people are told that’s not possible. Just this week, I was working with two new clients, both of them told me stories of being told that, “Well, you’re going to have to live with this forever. Your OCD is going to be there forever.” I said, “No, it’s not.” We are going to do proper testing. We are going to see where your chemistry is, and we’re going to put forward a healing path for you. I am so sick of hearing that, so forgive me if I’m starting to get a little passionate here, but it’s so important to me.
America has a food problem and it’s making us sicker
I’m excited to talk about your extraordinary research because in the introduction of your book, you sum it up perfectly. You said “America has a food problem. The food supply is tainted, it’s making us sick.” But you add we are sicker and losing our freedom and that’s the part I feel most Americans are totally unaware of. As we’ve been discussing, and it’s not just here in the United States. If we look around, we see the global push towards more and more lab manufactured Franken foods and the demonization of our farmers and ranchers. I’d really love to start by talking about this revolving door between Big Ag and our regulatory agencies. Agencies that are supposed to advocate for our safety, and sadly the opposite is true. Would you mind sharing with us what you uncovered in your research about that?
I love that question. Because this explains, in large part, why the food supply is the way that it is, as I was researching all the corruption in the food supply, the deception, the mislabeling of things, I said to my husband, at one point, “I don’t even understand the motivation. Why is this happening?” The government is supposedly paid with our tax dollars to ensure our food is safe, and they’re not doing that. As I outlined in the book, there are several instances of government regulations being changed in order to accommodate industrial products. For example, glyphosate levels being changed, antibiotic levels, and hormones in milk being changed. Why? Because the product that the industry wanted to add to our food supply didn’t pass the regulation. The government changed the rule, and I thought, “why is this happening?”
Our First Introduction to Genetically Engineered Hormones in our Food Supply
The best explanation I could find, which makes the most logical sense, is that this revolving door does exist. If someone hasn’t heard of the revolving door, it’s basically someone works, for Monsanto, one of the key Big Ag players, and then they leave Monsanto,to go work for the FDA, for instance. They work there for a while and go back to Monsanto. They go back and forth. That’s why it’s called a revolving door. An example of the revolving door I found, involves recombinant bovine growth hormone, which was in the news a lot in the early 2000s. If somebody hasn’t heard of it, this is a bovine growth hormone. This is the first genetically engineered hormone that was introduced into our food supply, it was given to cows. The sole purpose was for economic benefit. The purpose was not to improve the health of the cow or the quality of the milk, the purpose was to force the cow to produce more milk. To their credit, it worked. It was successful, cows produced more milk, but along with producing more milk, it also caused a whole slew of problems in the cows. The data was largely hidden from the public for a long time, it caused anything from mastitis, inflammation, to deaths in cows, birth defects, and inability of the cows to walk, it was not a good thing. You can imagine what it did to the milk? Well, one thing that we found out is that it increased, antibiotic residues in the milk, because the cows were getting mastitis at a much larger rate. Which meant the cows needed to be given antibiotics in order to treat the mastitis, and the residues leaked into the milk. This just one example of a consequence.
I’m going to walk you through a little bit of the revolving door, which is why rBGH was allowed into the marketplace. A couple of examples, Michael Taylor is the individual that pushed through the FDA’s voluntary milk labeling guidelines. Guidelines that were actually used by Monsanto and later used to sue dairy farmers that tried to label their milk as rBGH free. If a dairy farmer wasn’t using this genetically engineered growth hormone and labeled their milk rBGH free, then Monsanto could sue them. This was because the FDA passed what was supposed to be a voluntary milk labeling guideline.
Mr. Taylor moved back and forth between the FDA and Monsanto. He was the attorney for the company that represented Monsanto. Then he became vice president of Monsanto. Later, he was appointed by President Bush as the FDA Deputy Commissioner of Policy, and that is when he wrote the FDA labeling guideline for rBGH. Michael Taylor went back to work for Monsanto. Monsanto, by the way, is the same company that was producing rBGH, so he wrote the policy that favored Monsanto and was crushing the small dairy farmer. He returned to work for Monsanto before President Obama reappointed him to the FDA as the food safety advisor.
Go figure.
I want to make this point clear, and I do this throughout the book. This is not a Republican issue; this is not a Democratic issue. Our food safety spans across the political aisle; the adulterated food supply that we have today because of Democrats and Republicans both are causing this problem.
I’m glad you said that, by the way. Thank you for saying that; that’s important.
Yes, it’s very important because food is a unifying issue. We all have to eat food. We all feed our children and our grandchildren food. I think we can all agree, no matter what we disagree about in this nation, that we want to feed ourselves, our kids, and our grandkids clean, unadulterated food. And we all agree that we have the right to know if the food’s been adulterated or not. That’s my point in this book, our food supply has been adulterated, and they are hiding it from us the best they can. And we’re fighting over, “Should we get the government involved more?”
There’s many people, many food activists who don’t want to work with me, because they think the solution is to give the government more money. Of course, after you read my book, you’ll realize why you’re throwing your money down the garbage disposal. The government is not going to fix this problem, because they’re part of the problem. I think it’s interesting because the government and industry have succeeded to continue to divide us. For me, if somebody wants to follow the solution of giving the government more money, “Hey, do it.” There’s a chance there’s a small chance it may work. I don’t think so. I choose free market, but there’s a chance that will work. Regardless of how you want to fix it, I will support you, because we’re all working toward the same cause, right? We all want this clean food, but we bicker amongst each other over “Oh, well, you don’t want more government? Oh, you’re anti government.” And that’s not true at all.
Exactly.
I know the truth about their involvement in it and I prefer to put my faith in the people right into the free market solution. Let me give you another example of a revolving door also involving rBGH, the recombinant bovine growth hormone. Dr. Margaret Miller, was a key player in getting rBGH approved. Remember when I told you that cows developed a large incidence of mastitis and they had to be given antibiotics because the residue would bleed into the milk? She was the one who was responsible for increasing the allowable level of the antibiotic residue in the milk. Now she worked for Monsanto. From around 1985 to 1989, she was the laboratory supervisor, where she worked on bovine growth hormone. Around 1989, is when George Bush appointed her to the FDA. At that time, she was the FDA Branch Chief of Hormones, pharmacological agents. The division of the FDA she was in charge of evaluated the same research on bovine growth hormone that she conducted while Monsanto.
So typical, so typical.
Yes! We even had the GAO, the Government Accountability Office. They’re supposed to be the ones that are the watchdog over the government. They did an investigation on rBGH. The GAO’s own investigation revealed that the FDA’s primary reviewer of rBGH was Dr. Susan Session. She helped rBGH gain FDA approval while also reviewing and approving her own studies. She conducted the studies on Monsanto’s rBGH drug, and she was a graduate student at Cornell when she conducted the studies there. The FDA then hired her to review those very same studies. Also, she published articles supporting Monsanto and rBGH while working as an FDA employee.
Oh my. Wow. Extraordinary
Yes, those are just three examples of the revolving door around rBGH. As I said, the first genetically engineered hormone was added to our food supply, and that’s how it got approved. It was people reviewing their studies and people at the FDA changing the allowable limits to accommodate the product. I mean, who are they serving? They’re serving industry; they’re certainly not serving us. This same pattern repeats among everything that’s in our food supply, all these different chemicals and compounds; you’ll see this pattern, you’ll see a revolving door, you’ll see regulations being changed, you’ll see things come out like in the case of rBGH, and GMOs.
Scientists within the FDA itself warned about them. They said, “Don’t release them, they warned about them.” They fired those scientists or they silenced them. You’ll see this pattern of intimidation. By the way, this is a great example of how we’ve lost freedom, and we don’t even know it. If you look at rBGH itself, there was about an eight year time period, when the rBGH hormone was in the experimental phase. It wasn’t approved to be consumed by humans. It wasn’t approved to be put in the marketplace, it was considered an experimental drug. During an eight year time period, where the manufacturer of it, Monsanto, was like, well, we’re doing all these studies in these cows on rBGH what are we going to do with the milk that we get from them? The FDA allowed them to sell it to us in our grocery stores, unlabeled.
Oh, my gosh, unlabeled?
Yes, many of us drank experimental food for about eight years. We were not given the ability to consent. When this was brought to the GAO’s attention, you’ll find it if you follow the trail of papers, and I’ve referenced it in the book. The GAO said they came out to publish this; they said this is what the FDA is doing, and we adamantly object. We think the American people have a right to know if they’re consuming experimental products. And on this point, we disagree with the FDA. Guess what? The FDA, to this day, doesn’t think we have the right to know if we’re consuming an experimental product.
The last two and a half years certainly showed us that, didn’t it? Sorry, I had to throw that in there. I think more and more people are becoming aware. I mean, obviously, your research is extraordinary. Even though I’ve known this for quite some time, it’s still shocking. Especially where dairy is concerned, it’s still poison if you buy it at a regular grocery store. It’s so sad, isn’t it?
You chose to be an uninformed consumer. You did this to yourself.
It is. When I found out about the food supply, I was devastated because I was raised to trust in America, to trust that the government’s got your back. I mean, their tagline on the FDA’s website is that they’re there to protect our food supply, and the same with the USDA. I had faith in them. What I realize now is that it was blind faith, I blindly trusted them. I’ll share a quick personal story with you. One day, I came down from my office. It was toward the end of researching for the book and I’d already known about a lot of this corruption. I had learned about a new type of corruption and I come down to tell my husband, I’m livid. I’m like, “Guess what they’re doing now and blah, blah, blah”, Like all husbands want to hear their wives rant and rave. And so I’m just ranting about this. I stop because he’s not saying anything. I stop, I look at him. He says, “Why are you so affected by this? This is the same story over and over. Sometimes it’s different players. Sometimes it’s the same players, but it’s the same story over and over. Why are you so upset about it this time?” And I looked at him right in the eye. And I said, “Because they made me sick.”
And it just came out of nowhere, seemingly, and my husband looked me right in the eye. And he said to me, “No, they didn’t. You made yourself sick. You chose to be an uninformed consumer, and you did this to yourself.” You can imagine how I stormed off to my room.
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall.
I’m going over this, and suddenly, I said, “You know what? What he said bothered me so much that I wonder if there was some truth to it.” I sat there, and I prayed about it. I said, “All right, God, I really don’t think my husband’s right, but if I’m not seeing this, can you please show me? I’m ready to see it.” And he did. He showed me that it was my responsibility. Yes, they’re hiding things. Yes, they’re trying to make it hard for us to find the truth, but the truth still exists. You can find it. I wasn’t prioritizing it. I was doing other things.
Yeah, you were constantly in motion. Exactly.
By blaming industry, by blaming the government, I gave away my power.
I was moving too fast and keeping up with the Joneses. Doing my thing and he showed me “No, this is actually your responsibility.” Here’s the cool thing about it. While he showed me the truth, that is my responsibility. He also affirmed that he’s got my back, that he is there for me every step of the way. As I’m ready to see it, he will show it to me. Absolutely. He always does. I went back and rewrote whole sections of the book, from instead of a victim mentality to a thrivers mentality. I love that one moment with my husband, where he called me out on it, that one moment changed everything for me. Because at that moment, I realized, wait a minute, by blaming industry, by blaming the government, I’m giving away my power.
It’s always somebody else’s responsibility, which means I’m giving them my power. I expect them to fix this for me, which puts me in a victim mentality. By saying, wait a minute, with my choices; I got myself sick. That is the most powerful thing you can do because it also means your choices can allow you to heal instead of constantly outsourcing to other experts to heal you.
You did this to yourself, so you can find it in yourself to heal.
One of the reasons I love your book is that it’s about finding solutions. Your book isn’t just another rant about what’s wrong with the system, you lay out very strategically, and very carefully what the challenge is. Then solutions, which we’ll get into in a little bit, because I think that’s an important aspect to this. I always say as a practitioner, “Hey, I’m here to give you the roadmap, but it’s your job to actually take action. We can’t rely on legacy media to tell us the truth. We can’t rely, unfortunately, on the medical complex and the doctors that are a part of that, to tell us the truth, or many of them don’t even know the truth sadly. That’s where that internal intuition comes from. Discernment is so critical and we all have that, we’re born with that. That’s not something that only a select few people have. We all have that. That is why I love prayer. It’s cultivating it that really helps propel us forward. I’m so glad that you walked us through that.
I love how Sina’s work is about finding solutions, not just another rant about what’s wrong with the system. We, the people, have the power. All we have to do is consciously speak with our dollars. If folks stopped buying processed foods, the companies that make these ultra-processed foods wouldn’t be in business anymore. Sina reminds us that when it comes to health and wellness, most of us are searching for answers outside of ourselves. But every answer to every health question already exists inside you. All you need to do is learn how to harness that internal power.
Be sure to join Sina and me for part two, airing on February 6th. We take a deeper dive into manipulative food labeling, the gluten-free illusion, the truth about organic requirements, and how you can make wise choices.
