Apple with tape measurer

Since the day you were born, mass media has been conditioning you to think within its conventional box. This is why most of us have such a hard time becoming independent thinkers, unable to connect to our own innate intelligence.

This is especially true when it comes to diet and healthy living.

Nutrition facts, buzzwords such as “raw”, “gluten-free” and “organic”, and pretty recycled packaging can be very seductive.

For most of my life, I fell into the trap that if I knew all there is to know about nutrition, then I’d suddenly have the perfect body so I could attract the perfect man and have a perfect life.

Truth be told, I still love nutrition facts, but when my health really started to decline I began questioning the nature of such facts. Where do they come from? Who certifies them? How are they coming to such extreme claims?

I also started to question the fascinating phenomenon of intelligent and charismatic nutrition experts. You know who I mean – the Harvard educated doctor, the raw food guru, the super-smart dietitian, or the scientifically sophisticated vegan – all touting the right way to eat, all hitting us hard with research and facts to back up their claims, and all saying something very different from one another.

It’s pretty silly and arrogant to think that there’s one correct way to eat. So like I do with my clients, I want you to ask yourself:

  • How do I really feel on this diet (i.e. mental clarity, digestion, weight, sleep cycle, energy levels, and skin)?
  • Do I tend to get overly zealous when it comes to a particular eating style and put others down for theirs?
  • Have I looked at my unique, biochemical needs?
  • Am I easily swayed by nutrition gurus who claim to have all the “answers” and only one pathway to health?

Science is a moving target. Always has been and always will be, and our knowledge of nutrition and health is constantly evolving. One thing we do know, however, is that there is no such thing as a universal diet for all.

I break all of this down for you with world leader in brain health, Dr. Albert Mensah, in my free webinar Debunking the Detox Myth.

So how did I finally regain my health?

I shut out all the guru’s and figured out who I was on a biochemical level.

And guess what? I ended up saving my life in the process.

Have you gotten caught up in diet dogma? What happened? I’d love to know about your experience in the comments below.
