Candida & Yeast Overgrowth Nutritionist

One-on-One Functional Nutrition Support | Virtual Appointments Available

If you’re dealing with persistent bloating, sugar cravings, digestive discomfort, brain fog, or recurring symptoms that don’t seem to resolve, you may have been told that candida or yeast overgrowth could be involved.

As a functional nutritionist, I help clients understand how nutrition, gut health, and lifestyle factors may influence yeast balance in the body. My approach focuses on personalized nutrition support rather than extreme restriction or one-size-fits-all protocols.

As Seen in and Worked With:

Does This Sound Like You?

Clients often seek candida or yeast overgrowth nutrition support because they experience:
  • Ongoing bloating, gas, or digestive discomfort
  • Strong sugar or carbohydrate cravings
  • Brain fog or fatigue that comes and goes
  • High anxiety, mood issues, and OCD-like symptoms
  • Recurrent gut or skin issues
  • Symptoms that return after short-term protocols
  • Conflicting advice about “anti-candida” diets
Candida-related symptoms are rarely caused by one food or one factor. Sustainable progress requires a broader view of gut health and nourishment.

Testimonials from Happy (and Healthy) Clients

Sami has helped me tremendously. She found through one of her tests a stress disorder that I had never heard even mentioned by one of the many doctors I’ve been to through out my life of 61 years. It has explained so many symptoms I’ve had since I was a child. She has also been the most knowledgeable on the subject of my diet and nutrition and I trust her recommendations completely. I have battled with Candida and Lyme infections for years and I am so thankful to have her help and support.

When the words “I can’t live like this anymore” were uttered from my lips I was back on my quest for an answer to my lack of good health and well-being. It was then I contacted Samantha Gilbert (Sami) in what seemed like a last-ditch effort on a never-ending quest to help me solve why I’ve had chronic fatigue and insomnia for the past 20-30 years. Twelve doctors in that time frame not to mention practitioners from Korea, Japan, China and India tried to help with no real success and no hope. There was the highly recommended doctor that told me to deal with my hypochondria who didn’t get paid but I digress. Besides the fatigue and insomnia. I had psoriasis, dry and flaking skin, allergies, swollen sinuses and a severely swollen gummy throat, wounds wouldn’t heal on my skin, my eyelids were glued together when waking up, and I was very lethargic and would fall asleep after eating. I was always irritable beyond belief from lack of sleep and aching fatigue, often I couldn’t even get out of bed. It took one minute of listing my ailments to Sami for her accurate diagnosis. Sami ordered labs and her original analysis was correct, the lab work showed extremely elevated bacteria in my gut, yes, I was experiencing a gut infection. Sami gave me the choice of antibiotics or naturally killing the bacteria. I chose natural and it was a complete success. The next easy step was to build good bacteria in the gut. All the protocol was laid out in a simple and organized way to follow. Sami listens and doesn’t rush, she’s caring, compassionate, empathetic and very easy to talk to. It’s very apparent that Sami is very good at what she does and enjoys herself in her work. Sami spent a lot of time helping me to understand the process and answering all of my questions. Not only did the fatigue and insomnia disappear all of the symptoms I had were gut infection-related and are history now, the added perk is I’ve lost inches of weight. I’m grateful for Sami and her vast knowledge and understanding. I’m so grateful to have my life back and living calmly, rested centered and happy, life is beautiful again.

How Nutrition Plays a Role in Candida & Yeast Overgrowth

From a functional nutrition perspective, yeast imbalance is often influenced by deeper patterns such as:

Gut Microbiome Balance

An imbalance between beneficial bacteria and yeast can affect digestion, immunity, and symptom recurrence.

Blood Sugar and Carbohydrate Intake

Frequent blood sugar spikes may encourage yeast overgrowth. Nutrition support focuses on balance, not deprivation.

Nutrient Deficiencies

Low levels of nutrients such as zinc, magnesium, and B vitamins can affect immune and gut resilience.

Digestive and Inflammatory Stress

Poor digestion, low stomach acid, or chronic inflammation can create an environment where symptoms persist.

Stress and Immune Load

Chronic stress may impair immune regulation and gut integrity, influencing symptom flare-ups.

Candida & Yeast Overgrowth Nutrition Support – Common Questions

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions that may help if you need assistance or have any inquiries.

Do I need a strict anti-candida diet?

Not always. Many clients do better with balanced, individualized nutrition rather than extreme restriction.

Yes. All candida nutrition support sessions are conducted virtually.

Yes. While strict “candida diets” lack strong clinical proof, many people experience symptom relief when they reduce sugar, refined carbs, and highly processed foods and support overall gut balance with nourishing food choices.

Focusing on whole foods like lean proteins, non-starchy vegetables, low-sugar fruits, healthy fats, and probiotic-rich choices can support overall gut health and reduce digestive discomfort.

Not always. Excessive sugar can feed yeast and may worsen symptoms, so minimizing high-sugar and processed foods is beneficial, but long-term extreme restriction isn’t necessary for everyone, nor is it advisable.

Candida is a normal yeast that lives in your body. Overgrowth, when it becomes an imbalance, can cause digestive problems, skin issues, brain fog, anxiety, and even OCD-like symptoms.

Nutrition support doesn’t diagnose infections. However, I often order specialized lab testing when symptoms are severe or persistent. If medication is needed, your healthcare provider can recommend additional yeast infection treatments and may want to order more conventional labwork.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

You don’t need another extreme protocol. You need guidance that supports your body and gut long-term.
